this is one of the newer songs on the album. i’d written it just before we began recording the first tracks for the record - and it was one of the first to be recorded. i wasn’t sure about the song at first - i haven’t really been writing in this style for a few years, but after a few mixes and re-records we fleshed it out a bit and it was sounding great, so it made the grade in my eyes.
it’s about taking a big old breather if you need it. going away and just forgetting everything for a bit if you have lost a sense of where you are.
lyrics
pack your bags
take the morning off
to write some songs
to catch your breath
this is not
what’s going on
it’s not your fault
you’ve done nothing wrong
you’ve done nothing wrong
you’ve done nothing wrong
what’s going on
what’s going on
lie with me
and work me out
take your time
forget it all
this old house
and these old walls
are yours as well
but not for long
but i miss it still,
the knowledge of
what’s going on
what’s going on
