this song is about good memories going bad. it's also about feeling lost and not being happy about who or where you are.
a draft of this track has existed for a wee while, and the final version is mostly just what i recorded for the bedroom demo with rerecorded vocals and a big fat remix and remaster by big nick. the whole ep was called ‘the blossom and the rain’ after this track for about 6 months, but i decided against that in the end.
lyrics
[1]
i don’t know
what there is to say
i am through with you,
are you through with me?
[2]
i’m not okay,
the shape i’m in
these last few days
have stretched me paper thin
[3]
so take it slow
theres no second tries
i will grit my teeth
and i will wipe your eyes
[4]
the greatest part
of me, was you
we’d sit all day + watch the blossom fall
and the rain fall too
[5]
so i took your name
and i made something good
your words mean to me
more than they should
[6]
that misty road
your woeful stare
we’re going home
to anywhere
we’re going home
to anywhere
