this is the oldest track on this project, dating back about four years, so it pre-dates some of my other projects by a long way. so many versions of this song exist, all laid out in different ways, so it was really good to get a final version of it.
the sentiment of this song is pretty much lost on me, i have pretty much no idea what it was about when it was written, as it was written so long ago - but i think that its relative vagueness now makes it much easier to bare.
lyrics
i don’t. i don’t
i’m gone. i’m gone
nothing. nothing
gets me on the road
i don’t know what is meant to be
i don’t know what is meant for me
my love. undone
take a bow - you’re never coming back
you don’t leave no chance for me.
you don’t need the stars or the seas
you don’t need to come away with him tonight.
i don’t know, where i fall i go and all i have is you
and february took from me all remnants of the truth
savaged whole pathetic soul
my friends cannot contend
take me, break me, contradict me
take my breath and go
